P. G. Department of Zoology

P. G. Department of Zoology was established in the year 2021. The P. G. programme is of 2 years with 4 semesters. The Department has Six full-time faculty members. Two faculty members have Ph. D. degree; one faculty member is K-SET & NET qualified and currently pursuing his Ph. D.; one faculty member is K-SET and GATE qualified. Remaining two are K-SET qualified. The department is well equipped with 04 spacious laboratories including an instrumentation room consisting of various equipments such as spectrophotometer, muffle furnace, homogenizer, auto-clave, centrifuge, laminar air flow hood, incubator, etc. Currently, there are six student projects ongoing on the following animal models: earthworm, drosophila and zooplankton

The P. G. Department has organized several guest lectures, workshops and seminars such as Taxidermy, Drosophila species identification etc. Students are encouraged for research paper presentation to develop interest towards the research field. They are trained to develop communication skills. In future, the department plans to establish well equipped research laboratory and rooms for culturing Drosophila melagonaster which will be beneficial for both the faculty and student to carry out various research activities. The department also plans to encourage and provide guidance to the student to take up various State and National level competitive examinations.
